Specialty Services

Our specialists see patients by appointment and referral only. They use information provided by the referring veterinarian, as well as advanced equipment not available to many general practitioners, to provide the highest level of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities to their patients.

They also communicate regularly with the family vet to ensure that the pet owner and the pet receive the most thorough and compassionate care possible.

The relationship developed between the specialist and the family vet allows the pet to continue to receive long-term follow-up from a collaborating team of veterinarians.

Although the specialists in these areas are located at OSVS, they are always available for our doctors to consult with or refer patients to.

The internal medicine specialty encompasses a wide range of diseases including those affecting the gastrointestinal system, the liver, the kidneys, the endocrine system and the immune system including infectious diseases. An advanced endoscopy unit allows the internist to perform endoscopic procedures and biopsies for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal and selected respiratory diseases. The internist can also help manage many types of cancer in patients and has access to an extensive pharmacy of chemotherapy options. The internist performs abdominal and cardiac ultrasound examinations and working closely with the radiology department utilizes the results of x-rays and sometimes CT and MRI scans. The internist uses the various imaging studies along with routine and more specialized laboratory tests to diagnose and treat complex medical problems.
