Specialty Services

Our specialists see patients by appointment and referral only. They use information provided by the referring veterinarian, as well as advanced equipment not available to many general practitioners, to provide the highest level of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities to their patients.

They also communicate regularly with the family vet to ensure that the pet owner and the pet receive the most thorough and compassionate care possible.

The relationship developed between the specialist and the family vet allows the pet to continue to receive long-term follow-up from a collaborating team of veterinarians.

Although the specialists in these areas are located at OSVS, they are always available for our doctors to consult with or refer patients to.

Our surgery suite is equipped with monitoring equipment including pulse oximetry, EKG, blood pressure and end-tidal CO2 monitoring to ensure that the patient receives the safest possible anesthesia and moment-to-moment detection of any complications.

The surgery department is fully equipped, including bone plating equipment, external fixators, and soft tissue stapling equipment. Our surgeons also employ a variety of methods to control post-operative pain in their patients, including local and regional anesthesia, epidural injections, and combination drug protocols. Our surgery technicians are highly trained in the areas of anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance and maintenance of a sterile surgical environment. In addition, surgeons communicate with the patient's regular veterinarian to keep them apprised of their condition and to advise the veterinarian regarding follow-up and expected prognosis.
